The SouthTech Preparatory Medical Sciences curriculum has been designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills that will assist them to function as safe, competent, and effective healthcare providers. The delivery of this program includes a strategic focus on improving students’ Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science skills while studying in a career-themed pathway. Our Medical Sciences program encourages students to realize their potential through hard work and developing the specialized skills necessary to achieve their future career goals.
Orientation to Health Occupations
This nine-week exploratory class provides students with an expansive overview of healthcare professions available. The information shared in this class serves students with a solid foundation in their pursuit of health sciences programs and careers.
Anatomy, Physiology, and Disease
This course provides students with detailed knowledge of of the human body, both structurally and functionally with emphasis on the pathophysiology and transmission of disease. Medical terminology is an integral part of the course.
Medical Skills and Services
This course provides students with an opportunity to apply their background knowledge and skills related to the Health Science career cluster. Instruction and learning activities are provided in a lab setting utilizing hands-on experiences with the equipment, materials and technology appropriate to course content and in accordance with current practices.
