SouthTech Schools Student Application for Admission

Welcome to the Online Student Application System for SouthTech Preparatory (Grades 6-8) & SouthTech Academy (Grades 9-12). We are excited that you are considering joining the SouthTech Family!

Procedures and Requirements:

To begin the application process, please choose the school you are applying to below and create a user account. Once your account has been created, you will be able to appropriately complete the remainder of the admissions application. 

When completing your application, you will be asked to identify three academies/programs of interest by selecting your first, second and third choices. Every effort will be made to assign you to your first choice. In the event that is not possible, you will be offered your second or third choice.

Follow the instructions in the link below to obtain and upload the required Attendance and Discipline Records for each school.

Prior to making an admissions decision, the following student criteria will be reviewed:

  • Student Attendance Records
  • Student Discipline Records
  • State Test Scores – required for STP Middle School Only

 

The New Student admissions process begins each March. If applications exceed capacity, SouthTech will run a lottery to randomly choose students. Notification of student admission decisions are mailed each April. Applications submitted after the initial March review will be processed within 3-4 weeks until all remaining spots are filled. Candidates will be placed on a waiting list if there is no availability.

New to Palm Beach County?

If a student is entering Palm Beach County for the first time or has been in the county for less than a year, we require the following documents to be brought on campus at the time of applying in order for us to move forward.

  1. Current Transcripts
  2. Most Recent FSA Scores or State Test scores
  3. Latest Report Card
  4. Attendance Records from the last school year.
  5. Discipline records
  6. Record of physical
  7. Record of immunization

PARENT AND STUDENT APPLICATION ACKNOWLEDGMENT CONFIRMATION

All students applying for admission to SouthTech Schools must complete and submit a timely application. The Application is a two-part document consisting of a standard application form and an Acknowledgement document which attests that both parents/guardians and student are aware of specific conditions or actions required by the Charter School. The completion of both documents is a requirement for the application to be validated and entered into the admissions lottery process. 

The following are expectations for all applicants and enrolled students of SouthTech Schools:

  • A commitment from applicants and parents/guardians to participate in a three year program of academic study and career education components for middle school students or a four-year high school program of study that culminates in earning a high school diploma and industry certifications.
  • Acceptable Behavior: A behavior record that validates the student’s commitment to support and promote a safe school environment and a positive learning community.
  • Acceptable Attendance: An attendance record that reflects the student’s interest in learning and willingness to participate in the educational process. Habitual truancy will not be tolerated and will be subject to consequences provided under Florida Statutes.
  • Academic Performance: Applicants and parents/guardians are hereby informed that Florida high school graduation requirements include a minimum of a 2.0 Grade Point Average and Level 3 ranking on Core Subject Area State Assessments. Test scores lower than Level 3 may also lessen the student’s probability of earning career education certification or licensure (a major emphasis of SouthTech Schools) as such certifications are based on passing rigorous subject matter examinations. Students must be willing to work and study diligently if they are to succeed in the rigorous academic and career education curricula provided by SouthTech Schools. Students will demonstrate levels of academic performance required to meet promotion or graduation requirements.

Todos los estudiantes que soliciten admisión a las SouthTech Schools deben completar y enviar una solicitud a tiempo. La Solicitud consta de dos partes: un formulario estándar y un documento de recibo que certifica que tanto los padres/tutores como el estudiante conocen las condiciones o acciones específicas requeridas por la Escuela Charter.   • Asistencia Aceptable: Un registro de asistencia que refleje el interés del estudiante por aprender y su disposición a participar en el proceso educativo. El ausentismo escolar habitual no se tolerará y estará sujeto a las consecuencias establecidas por los Estatutos de Florida.
  • Rendimiento Académico: Se informa a los solicitantes y padres/tutores que los requisitos de graduación de la escuela secundaria de Florida incluyen un promedio mínimo de calificaciones de 2.0 y una calificación de Nivel 3 en las Evaluaciones Estatales de Materias Básicas. Las calificaciones inferiores al Nivel 3 también pueden reducir la probabilidad de que el estudiante obtenga una certificación o licencia de educación profesional (una prioridad de SouthTech Schools), ya que dichas certificaciones se basan en la aprobación de rigurosos exámenes de la materia.
