DEAN’S ASSISTANT

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Dean’s Assistant reports directly to the Dean of Students and performs a variety of functions relating to student behavior and school safety. The assigned areas of responsibility consist of all functions related to student conduct, crisis intervention, and establishing positive working relationships with students. Ideal candidates will be bilingual in Spanish or Haitian-Creole.

REQUIREMENTS: Associate degree or sixty semester hours of college preferred. Successful experience working with juveniles. Successful participation in training programs offered to increase the individual’s skill and proficiency related to working with students, including conflict resolution and crisis management techniques. Ability to be receptive to supervision and to work harmoniously with students. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.

DUTIES: Assists the Assistant Principal in the exercise of assigned duties related to school safety and performs specific duties consisted of, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Monitors and supervises students under the direction of the Assistant Principal and school administration
  2. Provides student intervention as needed
  3. Assists in the development and manufacturing of the Student Handbook
  4. Assists in the organization of the Student Services Department
  5. Monitors, supervises, and maintains discipline and orderliness of students throughout the school day
  6. Assists in handling student referrals
  7. Collects behavioral data for student behavior assessments and discipline
  8. Assists in the implementation of individual behavior contracts
  9. Confers with parents as requested
  10. Implements crisis prevention, crisis de-escalation, and crisis intervention procedures as needed
  11. Attends school meetings and Safety Workshops as requested
  12. Develops rapport with students and maintains visibility on the school campus
  13. Confers with school bus drivers regarding student behavior and serves as a liaison between school bus drivers and necessary school personnel
  14. Coordinates investigative and prevention efforts with the Assistant Principal and other school personnel to maximize prevention and cessation of inappropriate activities
  15. Maintains confidentiality and professionalism
  16. Observes established school philosophy, policies, and regulations.
  17. Other duties as assigned

BILINGUAL SCHOOL SECRETARY AND ATTENDANCE CLERK

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Receptionist reports to the Principal. The receptionist is responsible for customer service for staff, students, parents, and visitors, telephone communications routing and management, and other general office duties.

REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Prior experience in a school setting, and some college, is desirable. A thorough knowledge of office procedures and record keeping is essential. 

DUTIES:

  1. Projects a friendly, positive, and professional demeanor
  2. Displays and follows appropriate, courteous customer service protocol
  3. Greets staff, students, parents, visitors, and maintenance personnel
  4. Responds to inquiries and provides information
  5. Assists in school uniform sales 
  6. Answers the telephone, routes calls and manages messaging services
  7. Knowledgeable in procedural operations of the school
  8. Assists other office staff as needed
  9. Maintain filing systems and records as required
  10. Maintain confidentiality related to departmental and business matters
  11. Conduct oneself in the best interest of the school, students, and staff
